All attendees of the 2011 National Forum are invited to participate in a free tour of the Red Hook Community Justice Center on Wednesday, August 3 from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
The Center was established in 2000, with partial support from Byrne JAG funding to bring an integrated approach to the administration of justice in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Red Hook. Since its founding the Justice Center has been the recipient of a number of awards including the NCJA's Northeast Region Outstanding Criminal Justice Program award in 2008. Delegations from around the country and overseas have visited the Center to gather ideas for replicating the program in their jurisdictions. Not only has the program been recognized nationally and internationally, but Red Hook precinct has gone from one of the most dangerous precincts in New York City to one of the safest.
Tour participants will have the opportunity to tour the Center, sit in on the courtroom, attend a staff meeting and take a walking tour of the neighborhood led by members of the Center's Youth Court. Learn more about the Center and see an agenda, click here.
Space is limited and participants must register in advance. Click here to Register
